THE RED HOT SALT TENT is the first in a series of sauna-like salt room installations that feature local Bay Area Choirs singing to
polluted shores in South San Francisco. This installation is comprised of handmade linen pillows soaked in salt water from the salt flats in Menlo Park, a tent made of wood and mesh, heat lamps, and looping projections.
Vapors released from hot salt are said to heal asthma, a disease many populations living close to these shores suffer from. The viewing of this work is encapsulated within a healing environment, an opportunity for reparations between the landscape and community.
