Installed in the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion (a former military campus built during WWII), this work encompassed a 16 minute looping video of the Pacific Ocean as seen from the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast. The work is framed by the projection of Fort Mason's windows changing throughout the day. The video begins with language taken from Cold War instructional videos about the light seen before the atomic bomb and projects an industrial bulb from the building itself - timed to illuminate with the video.
This work is an ongoing series that reframes our gaze out onto the Pacific Ocean and other forms of nature along the coast through the lens of the military's engagement with these sites over the last century.
